A 24-17 win against Green Bay last Sunday solidified the Vikings’ spot in the thick of the NFC playoff race. At 6-4-1, they’ll get a chance to build that momentum against the Patriots, who are coming off a methodical win over the Jets. Despite an 8-3 record, New England hasn’t been quite as dominant as they’ve been in years past, but Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, and company are still having fine seasons and have been known to hit another level down the stretch. Will the Patriots show off that second gear on Sunday? Or will Kirk Cousins and Adam Thielen, the NFL’s second-leading receiver, become the first visiting team to win in New England in over a year? Let’s find out.

Minnesota (6-4-1) got a huge win against the Packers last week to pull ahead in the NFC North’s second place spot. The Vikings are looking good both in their pursuit of the Bears, who they trail by 1.5 games, and in the NFC Wild Card race.

Last week Kirk Cousins completed 76.3 percent of his passed for 342 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. With a rating of 129.5 in that game, it’s easy to see why the Vikings paid the big money to bring in Cousins from Washington.

New England (8-3) remains one game behind the Chiefs in the hunt for the top position in the AFC. Home field advantage will be huge in the postseason so the Patriots know they cannot afford to fall further behind. They own the tiebreaker against KC as well.

The Patriots have won four of their last five games with the one blemish being the odd blowout loss to Tennessee two weeks ago.
